Update from the Weekend

It seems like so many million things go on in a day. That I do the same tasks over and over. That we have to get here, or do this, or stop this argument/fight, keep some child entertained, clean this, change a diaper, listen to a tantrum, oops clean that mess, oh what's for dinner over and over again. I am so happy to just get to bed with everyone in one piece at night. So bad to just try and make it through the days. I need to be better about scheduling time....time for reading, and regular family prayer and scripture study when it is not 7:30 p.m. and everyone is grouchy tired. So I failed to get a babysitter this weekend and we did not get out again! I am so looking forward to the cruise in a couple of weeks....it will be a much needed break.

So....we had activity days here. I am an uptight mother. My children have not figured out how to just be. So it was crazy! My assistant did not show up until 20 minutes before the activity was over. Lots of help she was. Then I had to contend with my three and two other very active and opinionated 8 year olds. I feel bad for the other girls who are so good and wait patiently for me to deal with everyone else. This calling is becoming a little more difficult than I first thought it would be.

I got my haircut on Saturday. Amber had an appointment right after, so she was watching as Brittney was cutting with a buzzer in the back. She said you're getting your buzzed like a boy? Steve said Have you seen the back? It has razor marks. It looks good in the front though. So funny! It is short, but it feels so good. I went so long without having it done.

Lauren cut, sliced I should say, her finger with my rotary blade for fabric. I felt so bad. I was cutting fabric for my pillows, and stepped away. I let her use it when I was there helping her. Steve told her to wait and she didn't listen. Hard way to learn a lesson about obedience. It cut into her fingernail and on the tip. She wants to know how long it is going to take to heal.

Kyle and I took care of his Valentines today. Lauren needs to finish when she gets home. Then we have cupcakes to make and parties to help with tomorrow. Lauren gets to do part of the announcements tomorrow standing in front of the whole school. She has been practicing all weekend. "Good Morning Gladiators" Gladiators, Gladiators Go Go GO! "I can't hear you." Gladiators, Gladiators, Go Go GO! "That's better. Hi my name is Lauren Abbott and I am in Mrs. Ross' second grade class." Sad thing is I have a dentist appointment in the morning, so I will miss her, but Steve is packing the boys up to see her.

Just got back from a R.S. luncheon group. Had some yummy fajitas. I took my kids assuming everyone would have theirs. WRONG! I felt bad that everyone had to put up with me. Well now I know and I'll find someone to watch them. Good fun idea though.

Have to get things together this week for our scrapbook group. Amber and Brittney are joining the fun. I'm excited about that. I found a babysitter for this weekend. Asked one of the girls at church. Told Steve on the way home. He said, just us or are we going out with someone else? Whatever! I don't really enjoy going out with other people. I guess it depends on who it is. Just too much small talk, you can't be totally relaxed and comfortable, plus I don't want to have to be polite. What do you want to do? I don't care type thing. It's too high maintenance for me. So we'll see.
