doesn't last long in these parts. The kids have been wanting me to get a photo of the "puffy tree" out front. The bees love that thing. So Kade and I went on a little photo scavenger hunt. Finding bits of spring in our yard. I must say the backyard could use a serious overhaul. Pruning and weeding would do it some good. Shooting close ups of the plants were kind of cool. Gives a whole new perspective.

Amber was having trouble with her camera and asked her photographer friend, Sarah, to take a look at it. She learned a little something new from her...as did I. Simple really but I'll pass it along. It deals with metering. If you put your camera in priority mode (P) then get really close to the subject so it fills your frame. Press the button down halfway and your numbers are listed in the bottom of the viewfinder. It gives you the shutter speed and
aperture for correct exposure. Now go to Manual and enter those numbers. If it's off a bit, just use the dial at the top until the line is in the middle of the bar inside. I did this little trick on my photos today. I never knew how to do that. Cool trick.

Those look good! You are crazy--you have already played with your camera!
Your pictures look really good. Sound like you learned how to spot meter???? Once you enter the numbers and back up your camera will show your exposure off... don't change the shutter speed - leave where it is because you've meter off your subject and then when back up and compose your shot you are metering the whole picture.. boy this stuff is hard to explain... did that make any sense? Maybe i didn't understand you right.. in the first place.
