What I've Been up to....

1. Sewing the rest of the aprons for Bunco this next Friday. I have two more to go, and if I have extra fabric and time I may take Jodie's suggestion and do a little giveaway.

2. Whipped up this mint lemonade slush . It is SO GOOD! I'm gonna make some more to have on hand whenever I feel like a sweet, cold treat.

3. Got my new Jenni Bowlin kit. I have to say that I am not good about scrapping all the time, but I have quite a collection now and when I need something I just go through my packs. Fun stuff.

4. Thinking about some summer rentals. This site is way cool. We are thinking a quick beach trip may be all our family can take. So that rental is out, but I am gonna try to book something in the mountains so we can do a fishing trip without roughing it.

5. I ordered the fabrics for the robot pattern that I got for Kyle. Gonna start on that. They are all a little random, but I think it will all come together. The multi square is for the body, green for the head and antenna, blue ruler for the legs and red striped for the arms.

6. I have been getting discouraged about my lack of knowledge in the photo taking department. I want for things to just click....it's not happening. I want to be confident in any lighting situation. I want to be able to just know...know what the settings should be so I can relax and know that I captured a quality shot, instead of a bunch of blurry ones. I know that it takes time, so I'm still so excited about the photography class in July. Wish it was sooner. I have been debating talking Steve into letting me upgrade my camera. A lot of my problems have to do with the user not the camera, but if there really is a difference in quality, I'd rather learn on a superior piece of equipment. So I don't know, what do you think?

Until then, I just order a wide angle rental lens from this place. It should be here in a couple of days. I thought it would be fun to experiment.

I want to go somewhere where the kids go down and play at the lake... i picture them down jumping off an old wood dock into the water ... yep I'm a weirdo..

this place has some pretty big homes... maybe we can ALL go together...heehee...

So how long are your renting this for? And then you just send it back? That is cool.
That slush sounds good right now!

Okay I ordered the Canon EF S10-22m f/3.5-4.5 USM because I saw some cool photos on Elsie's blog and she mentioned this lens. I have no idea what all the numbers mean. I think next time I'll get the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM....I rented it for a week and sure if it interests you we can meet up. Thanks for the info on the other website.

You are so funny... the first set of numbers is the focal length and the second is the widest aperature the lens will go...What I don't know is if one of these numbers represents how fast the lens is... I've been wondering about that???

the 24-70mm 2.8L is the lens I'm hopeing for for Mother's Day...

it seems like they never have it in to rent.

I would tell you from my perspective. Dont upgrade the cammera, take a class or even rent a lens. It will only mean Steve wont get dinner, one of the kids will get hurt, and there wont be any clean underware.JK I am so impressed with how much fun you guys are having with the whole thing. But all the things I wrote above have happend at my house now that Jennifer has taken a couple of classes.

Dave thanks for your perspective it does become somewhat consuming.

I guess I did know that about the lens numbers. What's with the USM and EF? Who knows....Just checked the price on that baby(the 24-70mm) Holy Hannah! I have heard that a great lens helps things out a lot. So....new lens or new camera? I have the Canon 300D. What are your thoughts? I think I'm starting to lean towards a new lens.

What is so great about that particular lens?? to make it such a high price? Is it good all around? Do you think you would keep it on your camera most of the time?

Sorry, I am so full of questions.

you always hear prime lenses are sharper than zoom lenses.. but once you jump up to that L series of lenses... they are just the best you can get...

I'm pretty sure it would be one I could use all the time!!

as far as which to get first... as I've said before I would love a new camera also, but I figure I can use the new lens now and in the future when I get that new camera

I'll live vicariously through you Jen....let me know how that lens is when you get it. Until then, I will keep learning and once I've mastered the manual thing...I'll treat myself.

That rental place sounds cool, I will have to check it out. I love reading your blogs (even though I don't know you personally. But you have a great name, so I figure you are good people! :)) You are so creative, and such a super mom! And you update your blog often, I enjoy reading updated blogs!!!
