More Crafts

Time for some re-evaluation. I am stinking big time on my 100 day goal. I am going to rededicate myself this week. That's what goal setting is all about right?

I was pretty impressed with myself today. The kids are going to a musical theater camp for three hours each day for this next week. It was glorious! I was able to get some grocery shopping done with the younger two and the older two had a blast. We hardly had the TV on today and they were actually getting along. I planned a couple of fun activities.

We made homemade ice cream

Recipe:
1T. sugar
1/2 c. half and half
1/4 tsp. vanilla
6 T. rock salt
ice cubes
2 small plastic ziploc bags
2 lg. plastic ziploc bags

Fill large bag half full of ice, and add salt. Put milk, sugar and vanilla in the small bag and seal it. Double bag it with a small bag and place in big bag and seal. Then double bag the big bag as well. Shake until mixture is ice cream about 5 minutes.
Then we made some hot rocks. I got the idea from Wisecraft. The kids loved this one. They want to do some more tomorrow. Wash some flat, large rocks. Place them on a aluminum foil lined pan for 15 minutes on 350 degree heat. Use pot holders to move onto a plastic surface. We used cutting boards. Remind the kids that they are HOT. While the rocks are heating, pick the paper of of crayons. The crayons will melt onto the rocks.

Felt really good that they were engaging in good creative activities that put their minds to use.

That is so cool how you do that with the rocks. I need to try that.

Those rocks are cool, I especially like the heart one with the polka dots. I'm going to have to try to make some soon.

I guess I didn't need to buy those ice cream maker things at L.L. Bean. I feel like a dope . . .

jenny,
I don't think it will wash off. It dries hard. Who knows what will happen when they are outside.
