I want to get our room put together. We have never really had a nice bedroom. When we moved we bought some night stands and a dresser to match our headboard that we have had for years. I just recently purchased some lamps. What a difference. Now I am itching to finish up. I have a few things stopping me. The floral bedspread is making it hard for me to match up fabric for throw pillows. I am not changing the color of our room....we finally got that painted right before Brandon was born. I share this space with my scrap stuff. Steve made some bookshelves that I painted red and I have a yellow table next to it. So I kind of wanted to stay in the same color family. I was thinking that I would sew some darker brown drapes and we want to get a smaller leather recliner for the corner. Steve is so excited about that one.
I like my comforter, but I could part with it and start from scratch. I was thinking that I could just buy a plain duvet cover, keep my bedskirt and make some patterned throw pillows. But what color???? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas. We have decided San Fran it is. It is hard for me to leave my little ones....it is going to be a quick trip so we didn't want to spend a lot of time travelling. It will be Chicago next year!! And no Candace, I have never been that far. My only plane rides have been to LA..... I am pathetic.

Love all the colors. I like the brown curtain idea. What about matching pillows to go with the curtains? Textures are a fun thing for pillows. You could do leather, cotton etc. Just take the colors from your bed spread. I like using what I have and adding to it. I love mix and match and very country.
Heather, you could totally do the brown drapes and maybe replace the duvet with a brown or even the blue. Then make pillows out of the old duvet to keep that pattern in the room. Then you would have a blue/brown with red accents. That's all I got. (What color are your walls again?)
san francisco is a good choice. when we went....7 years ago...we got a city pass that let us ride the bus & trolleys as much as we wanted it also got is into a lot of the attractions. ..Alcatraz & some museums & stuff. May be something you'd be interested in.
Very cute. Do you have any more of the stripe? You could keep the bedspread and do pillows in the stripe, solid red, and brown. I know whatever you do will be so cute and put together. You'll have to post a few pictures when you get it done.
I love the brown idea for sure. Because your furniture is light - I think adding some dark in there would be cool. Also, I love chocolate, baby blue and red. I just decorated a room like that and the people loved it! But, I do think you'd be happier with a plain color bedspread or duvet cover with cool funky patterns for pillows!
And, San Fran is a blast! When are you going? I loved it...I could give you a few good things to do!
