An independent child

Since the parking situation is crazy at school, we decided to have Lauren walk to the Kindergarten gate today and meet us there. We have been practicing and today was her big do it all by myself day. Unfortunately, I ruined that. Kyle was out and Lauren was not there yet.... we decided to start walking toward her line. She was not there. Mrs. Ross was concerned and said she had walked to the gate across the field. I knew she knew where to go. I looked around the blacktop and saw her talking to her friend Brooke. As soon as she saw me she began to get upset and yelled, "Mom go back to Kindergarten...I am doing this all by myself." After three such episodes, we made it to the car. I explained to her the situation. That this is all new and I had to make sure her teacher knew what our plan was. It didn't help that Kyle thought that Lauren was supposed to pick him up not me. Lauren is for sure Miss Independent!
We went to the doctor today for Kade's 15 month check up (1 month late). Apparently by 18 months he should no longer have his pacifier. I can't even begin to try and imagine this. He is so attached to it. I am going to make a note to self to remove the pacifier before Kade's next visit.
Kyle is so funny. He always says, "Crazy muver (mother)"
I finished sewing and hanging the drapes for the front room. I did it in one night. Finished hemming them today. It looks great. Steve says it adds so much to the room. I think he's right. So because of the long weekend, and the fact that Bunko is at my house the following weekend, I have a long list of projects I'd like to get done. Tomorrow night I hope to go the the fabric store to get some material to cover the chairs and make the valances for the other windows downstairs. I am going to do a bold stripe and a red floral for the chairs....I hope that all of the patterns end up working together and it looks really eclectic instead of clashing. I'm excited about making things look more finished down there.
