I've Encountered a Problem

I knew this day would come. I have SO many photos on my hard drive that there is barely any free space left. I am scared to delete the photos (the good ones) I have backed everything up on disc but what if they scratch? I really feel better having them all on my computer. So what are my options? External hard drive? And how does that really work? I did have a little USB key thingy that came with my computer....need to locate that. Could I use that?

HELP please!!

YES! The flash drive is the greatest thing ever- So Ryan says, I really know nothing about computer stuff, but I know those little things are life savers. GOOD LUCK!

You should probably get your pictures off soon because my hard drive crashed recently (I think because it was overloaded) and I lost everything including a lot of geneaology stuff which made me really sad.
If you use the USB drive, you just stick it in your computer and a box should pop up telling you which drive the USB is then you can save the pictures like you would to a disc. You can also upload your pictures to Snapfish, Shutterfly, ect. and they will store unlimited photos for free. One thing about CD's I learned in my Family History class is that CD's are only good for a maximum of 7 years.
Hope that helps.

For the number of pictures you have, an external hard drive would probably be the best thing. Russell and I looked at them at Fry's this Christmas.
