when I go through the ginormous pile of papers from the school week, I get a good chuckle. When I was teaching school, I loved to try and figure out what the kids were writing. I got pretty good at it. So when Kyle started bringing home stories.....well, I was in love. When he told me he has written a ton of stories like this, I was so excited. Sure enough they have been coming home and they go straight to my must save pile, that is currently under my bed. (I need to get a better system)
And Lauren, she is just plain funny. Softball when she's 20 and a seamstress when she is 40. From her illustrations, you would think that there was a vast age difference. "A seamstress because that is just what OLD people do." Where does she come up with this stuff??
After much thought, I have decided on my goal for the 100 day challenge. In an effort to be held accountable, I will share..... I will read my scriptures daily for 100 days. My secondary goal is going to be having organized activities when the kids get out of school.....so they remember me as a fun mom instead of the mean mom I really am. ha ha!

That is so funny! I love Kyle's. Do they just let them sound out the word & spell it how they think it sounds? That seems crazy that in a year from now Tanner will be bringing that kind of stuff home. Pretty hard to believe since he still is confused with some of the letters.
Kids sure do come up with the best things. I like Lauren's illustrations.
Just a thought since you said you needed a better system to keep their school work organized. My mom kept all of our papers and things we did in school in plastic storage bins. We each had our own and they had file dividers that vertically stood up inside marked with the grade year to keep them organized and neat. Then it's much easier to just slide out the child's box and slip the new papers in.
Lauren's paper is so funny! I love that the sentence, "because that's what old people do" ends with an exclamation point. Like she's saying "hello, don't you know that already."
If you're a mean mom I have no hope in the 'memories of my mom' department. I think you're FUN.
i like the 100 days thing- gotta think about what I want to do.
the stories are GREAT! What fun it will be to look back on them with your kids.
It IS a small world! I thought I recognized your little picture next to your comments. I don't mind you reading my blog at all, but I promise it is nothing fancy. I love the idea of a 100 days challenge. I actually came across it through someone else's blog. Your family is so cute and your pictures are amazing.
Love the little school notes. I have a pile of my kids too. I always meant to blog one Kristen did after she had the flu. She wrote "I had the fever". Cracks me up to this day!
