Palm Mortuary has a display of 3,000 American Flags to represent those killed in 9/11. It is a tragically beautiful display. Each flag has a card with a name of a person, age, where they were located during the event and a brief couple of sentences about them. Overwhelming to see...it was just a sea of flags. Once in the middle, I was surrounded not able to see the end, and at the same time not able to capture the volume. Sad to know that the flags represented people. It was a very visual reminder and I am a visual gal. I need to take Lauren down there before the month is up. She had no idea, what the significance of tomorrow's date was. She was a preschooler and I distinctly remember driving her to school that morning after watching the news. Unbelievable! I cannot believe it has been so long.
I took a ton of pictures, I was trying to do my assignment. I totally overexposed the second one. Ironically, I like how the flags are positioned best in that one. Not what I was envisioning for a final outcome, but I kinda like the funkiness of it.

All those flags are so neat! I saw that they were going to be doing that & I thought of going.
And then when I picked Tanner up from school today he was telling me how tomorrow is a special day to remember. His teacher told him the story & I just let him retell me in his own words. So now I think I should really go & take them.
Beautiful. We took our kids to see that last year. It is overwhelming. Almost shocking that it's been so long, I remember that morning like it was yesterday.
I like the second one...I thought you did it on purpose ;o)
Wow! What a neat place. Your pictures are great, as usual, and I really like the second one too!
Wow! What a beautiful tribute! I love the pictures, especially the 2nd one!!
I didn't even know they had something like that here. I was so annoyed that the kids school didn't even mention it today!! I think we will have to go down there.
